Holiday Schedule Reminder
As per Article 11.04 of the Collective Agreement, every resident is entitled to 5 consecutive full days off between December 22nd and January 2nd (except in cases of a declared alternative religious holiday – see Article 11.06). These days do not affect accrued vacation time, as they are made up of lieu-days for the 3 statutory holidays (Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s), plus 2 weekend days. Therefore, any resident who is scheduled to work on one of the aforementioned stats will receive statutory pay, but not an additional lieu day. The 5 days can be taken anytime within the 12-day period, and standard scheduling rules for planned time off apply. Questions can be directed to Resident Doctors of BC.
