BC Front-line Workers Pandemic Pay

The BC government released an announcement on Tuesday, May 19 that eligible front-line healthcare workers, including resident doctors, will be receiving temporary pandemic pay. BC is the first province to include resident doctors in their pandemic pay plans, and we would like to thank all our residents who have been working hard throughout this pandemic and bringing their dedicated care to patients. We expect that no action to apply is necessary on your part. Eligible residents will be receiving this pay on their paycheque(s), administered by PHSA Payroll. For more information on the pandemic pay, click here.

Win an Apple Watch!

CMA has graciously donated two Apple watches to be won by residents during our May Wellness Month – physical fitness and wellbeing week. If you haven’t yet submitted an entry to our Happiness in Isolation contest for this week, with the theme of what has been making you happy in terms of physical fitness and wellbeing, send us a blurb by today, 4 PM to be entered into a draw for an Apple watch, courtesy of CMA. Thank you CMA for your participation in our May Wellness Month!

Upcoming Theme: Community & Interpersonal Relationships

Our last theme for May Wellness Month is starting on Monday, and focuses on community and interpersonal relationships. If you have any community or group events you would like to invite fellow residents to, send us the details on how they can remotely participate to info@residentdoctorsbc.ca by Monday, May 25, 9 AM and we’ll be sure to compile a list to share on our social media.

Addressing the Confusion on RDBC and RDoC

We have noticed an increase in confusion from residents recently on the difference between Resident Doctors of BC (RDBC) and Resident Doctors of Canada (RDoC). We would like to take this opportunity to clarify that Resident Doctors of BC (RDBC) is the provincial organization supporting residents in BC. We are your go to for resident issues, concerns, and questions on everything residency related in BC. Resident Doctors of Canada (RDoC) is the national organization separate from RDBC, which does not oversee the activities of the provincial organizations. We hope that helps clear up any confusion residents may be having on where to direct their residency related questions to. If you have any further questions on the role of RDBC, feel free to send us an email at info@residentdoctorsbc.ca.

CalendarUpcoming Events

All RDBC events have been cancelled or moved to VC. We encourage everyone to remain at home.
