Prince George Site Visit & Social – July 17

Prince George Residents, we are coming to you on Tuesday, July 17! We’ll be on-site at the University Hospital of Northern BC to answer any of your questions. Afterwards, we’ll be taking you out for dinner and drinks—social venue TBA! Partners and spouses are welcome to come. Mark your calendars, be sure to RSVP to events@residentdoctorsbc.ca!

Kelowna Site Visit & Social – July 25

Kelowna Residents will also have a chance to chat with us on Wednesday, July 25, to have any questions they may have answered! In the evening, be sure to come out to BNA Brewing for dinner and drinks on us, during which we will be presenting the Award of Excellence to Dr. Jared Baylis. Enjoy the night socializing with your fellow Residents, and RSVP to events@residentdoctorsbc.ca!

Firework Social – July 28

Summer is a time for events! The weather is perfect, the breeze is refreshing, the sun is out… or in this case, the night is clear of rain and clouds! Our annual Fireworks Social will be taking place Saturday, July 28, at The Refinery, for a round of appies and drinks on us. Wander down afterwards to watch South Africa present at the Honda Celebration of Light. Space will be limited, so keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming RSVP link!

Transitioning Residents to Practice: Enroll in BC Government Paid Physicians’ Disability

As a soon-to-be practicing physician, you can increase your Doctors of BC Member Disability coverage to $7,000 as a GP and $10,000 as a Specialist without proof of health. You can also add features such as Own Occupation and Retirement Protection to enhance your plan in practice.

All physicians working in BC can enroll in the BC government paid negotiated benefit, Physicians’ Disability Insurance (PDI). If you have had at least $2,000 of Doctors of BC Resident Disability at least 12 months prior to practice, you can enroll into PDI without proof of good health.

For transitioning residents without coverage, you can apply to the Doctors of BC Member Disability plan without proof of health until residency ends. If you apply after residency, proof of good health is required.
