Do you have a passion for leadership? Do you want to make real, positive change for your fellow residents? Do you want to learn more about your union? We are accepting nominations for the 2020-2021 RDBC Board of Directors until Friday, July 24, 12 PM. That’s only one week left! RDBC PULSE is Back!
Our triannual magazine, the PULSE, is now out with the July issue, “Residents in Action”. Due to COVID-19, the May issue of the Pulse had unfortunately been cancelled. We are happy to bring you the summer 2020 issue, available digitally.
New Call Stipends System Delay
The official rollout of our new Call Stipends system has unfortunately been delayed. We appreciate your patience during this time. Please rest assured that a separate email will be sent to all members detailing information on the system, including how to access and use it, once it has been launched. In the meantime, please continue using the existing Call Stipends website.
Does your fitness routine need a boost? Residents are hosting a series of workouts on Friday afternoons between 4 and 5 PM. Led by a kinesiologist, the routines will combine cardio and strengthening. Ideally all that is needed are a resistance band, mat, and dumbbells or a heavy household object, but options will be provided for body weight-only exercises for those who aren’t interested in purchasing gear. Sessions are scheduled for July 24th & 31st, August 7th, 14th, and 28th, September 4th, & 11th, and October 2nd, 9th, and 16th. Email firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight on Thursday for Meeting ID. Look forward to seeing you there!
CFMS Transition to Residency Guide – Feedback Wanted
The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) is developing a Transition to Residency Guide. This guide centers on residents’ perspectives on transition to post-graduate training, facilitating peer-to-peer support, in addition to providing resources and guides on wellness, resiliency, research, finance, and CBME. A survey has been developed to inform the development of the guide. The results of this survey will be summarized into main themes of advice for incoming residents. We are inviting all residents to complete this survey by August 5, 2020.
Optional and Additional LTD Insurance – Doctors of BC
Residents new to BC: you have until September 30, 2020 to enroll in the optional and additional Doctors of BC IncomeProtect™ for Residents disability plan without medical questions. All residents are covered under the Employer-Paid LTD plan by default, which will cover 66.67% of your R-level salary. The decision to purchase additional plans is a personal one, and we encourage residents to evaluate what level of disability insurance is best suited for them.
