PGME Newsletter Re: Vacation Days
We would like to once again clarify that the information in the PGME newsletter sent out last Friday in regards to the use of vacation days for medical appointments is not accurate. We are pleased with the swift and corrective response that the UBC PGME took on Monday morning in retracting this information, and will continue to work with them as a key stakeholder in advocating for resident wellness. If you have a medical appointment, please arrange time off with your Program Director as before and do not use your vacation days.
COVID-19 in BC
While cases of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, remain contained in BC, we continue to remind and ask all residents of the necessity of using protective gear when assessing patients. Gloves, gowns (if necessary), eyewear and surgical masks should be used if deemed appropriate by your self-assessment. RDBC continues to receive regular updates on the status of COVID-19 from the Ministry of Health. Dr. Lynne Li, one of our Medical Microbiology residents, has prepared a one-pager on the virus you can read.
