Drs. Stanger, Chan, Rodis, Thiara, and Cheung – Journal of the American College of Cardiology
Drs. Dylan Stanger, Siu Him Chan, Samuel Yip, Belinda Rodis, Sonny Thiara and Christopher Cheung with colleagues from UBC and the University of St. Andrews, were published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Their retrospective analysis: Clinical outcomes of Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients Stratified by Cardiac Troponin-I. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the utility of elevated cardiac troponin in predicting occult coronary ischemia using non-invasive investigations in patients who presented with acute ischemic stroke. It found that it is associated with significantly higher incidence of occult ischemia on noninvasive testing, and they recommend collaborative practice between stroke neurologists and cardiologists to further understand the implications.
