Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

RDBC Land Acknowledgement

With gratitude, we acknowledge that RDBC members work, live and learn on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of Indigenous peoples around the province. We respectfully acknowledge that our Broadway office is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. As an organization, we acknowledge that we are guests on these lands. We also give thanks to the ancestors, supernatural ones, leaders and matriarchs, creatures big and small for looking after the rich resources and cultural teachings of this beautiful land.

RDBC Statement on Anti-Racism

It is the firm position of RDBC that racism, intolerance and discrimination in all forms are unacceptable at resident training sites. RDBC is committed to advocating for culturally safe working and learning environments for residents, and will work with our members and stakeholders to help confront these issues.

Additional EDI Resources and Initiatives Available to Residents

RDBC has a standing resident committee on EDI. The committee sends a callout for new members every year in the fall and meets regularly to discuss initiatives and work on communications to residents. In the summer, the committee also supports and participates in events such as the Vancouver Pride Parade. RDBC hosts a cultural festivities calendar on our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and X). To submit feedback on our coverage or request that your cultural festival be featured, please contact the RDBC EDI Committee at board@residentdoctorsbc.ca. RDBC is working to compile a list of committees, initiatives and resources offered through individual Residency programs and at Health Authorities or individual training sites.
