Dr. Tyler Hickey – Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine
Dr. Hickey and colleagues were published in the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine for their article CPR-associated right ventricular rupture in the setting of pulmonary embolism. In it they discuss a case where the patient died from diffuse pulmonary emboli with traumatic rupture of the right ventricle secondary to chest compressions during CPR. They summarize the importance of thorough evaluation post successful resuscitations for injuries.
Drs. Derek Murray and Ana Sofia Lopez – Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine
Drs. Murray and Lopez with their colleague published a case series on young children with accidental marijuana titled: When the grass isn’t greener. In it they present four cases and discuss other studies. They find that the presentations can lead to more extensive investigations and empirical treatments for more serious pathologies and recommend future work of public awareness campaigns on the risk of use in the home.
Dr. Gelareh Noureddin – British Journal of Ophthalmology
Dr. Noureddin and colleagues were published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology for a case series of Paediatric infectious keratitis at tertiary referral centres in Vancouver, Canada. In the observational series they analyzed demographic information, clinical features, predisposing factors, results of microbiology studies, antibiotic susceptibilities, treatment course and outcomes. They found that contact lens wear and pre-existing ocular surface conditions are significant risk factors for the development of infectious keratitis in our paediatric population.
