Announcing the New RDBC President and Directors

We are pleased to announce that a vote was held within the Board of Directors on August 26, 2020, for the new Resident Doctors of BC President and Executive Directors. Please welcome Dr. Daphne Lu as the new Resident Doctors of BC President for the 2020-2021 year.

Dr. Lu is a third year resident in General Surgery at the University of British Columbia. She completed both her Bachelors in Science (Honours) and Doctor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Last year, she served as the RDBC Director of External and Labour Relations and in this capacity forged new collaborations with the Ministry of Health, created an inaugural event at the Parliament to increase resident awareness, advocated for improved call room standards, and developed programming to help medical students returning to clinical studies during the pandemic.

“Thank you for the privilege of serving as your RDBC President for 2020-21. It is an absolute honour and I am looking forward to working with a talented team of new board members to continue to grow our organization. In particular, I am interested in engaging with residents across specialities and geographical distribution to hear your feedback on how we can improve the residency experience. We are committed to supporting, advocating, and representing your voice and I hope to have the chance to meet many of you this year. Please do not hesitate to reach me in person or via email!”
