General Surgery residents recently got together for a virtual cooking class Plan Your Own Social. Here is what they had to say:
“Our program was able to put on a virtual cooking class through the League of Kitchens organization. We chose a Mexican-themed cuisine with Angie as our spectacular chef! All the ingredients were purchased beforehand and over the course of 2.5 hours, we learned to make beef tacos with salsa verde, guacamole all from scratch! It was a wonderful experience to learn about authentic Mexican cooking and to be able to enjoy time together virtually.
Pros: Unique way to participate in a social with a large group of residents/family/friends. The food was also incredibly delicious and the steps were easy to follow along.
Cons: After making the tacos it was a little challenging to engage in conversation while enjoying the meal as a group over zoom.”
