Residents are public sector employees, meaning your wages come from the government of BC (through the Ministry of Health through VCH payroll). As a part of public Sector bargaining in BC, the government sets the wage increase achievable in negotiations for the entire sector. Should anyone achieve a higher wage increase during bargaining the rest of the sector is also eligible for that same increase. This does not include increases to benefits or other non-wage provisions, or arbitrated settlements.
