Grievances are a formal process to deal with issues with the application of the contract with the employer. The Union can file a grievance against the Employer on behalf of the Resident e.g. if they are being required to perform blood collection services regularly when the CA explicitly notes that this shall not be a regular expectation. There is a 21-day timeline for raising issues using this process, Residents are encouraged to contact RDBC as soon as they have a concern. RDBC will not pursue issues without the consent of the resident.
A policy grievance is a grievance that impacts a group at a policy or systemic level. Examples of previous policy grievances are HPV vaccinations for select programs with occupational exposures or pay for orientations related to hospital requirements.
