Distributed Training Locations Explainer

If you are required to leave the hospital primarily associated with your training for a mandatory rotation you are entitled to be reimbursed for reasonable travel and accommodation expenses.

Some rotations may provide housing., if the housing is provided it must be

  • Secure, with consideration for privacy

  • Clean and well-maintained

  • Self-contained with access to full kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities

  • Furnished with a bed and bedding

You can request advances on expenses from the employer.

Education standards should not be diminished because you are in an alternate training location. If you have concerns about your workplace, they can be reported to respectful workplace (links to respectful workplace). If you have concerns about educational quality or expectations share them professionally with your Program Director.

There must be a scheduled day of non-working time on the final day of the preceding block to allow for travel.

If there is a mandatory educational activity during the rotation, with prior approval your transportation to and from the activity will be reimbursed.

The employer will provide a return trip at the end of every 4-week block, or for your partner.

If compassionate leave is required half of the cost of transportation will be reimbursed.
