Vacation Leave Explainer

Residents are entitled to a minimum of 2 weeks consecutive vacation.

Vacation requests cannot be unreasonably withheld, and every effort must be made to grant your third choice of vacation.

What does this mean in practice? If you are on a busy service with 2-3 residents already absent it is less likely for your request to be approved. Is it block 13 and you should be presenting a scholar project? Also, unlikely that your request will be approved. This does not mean your program can black out all of block 13 or you can never take vacation on CTU, there are reasonable operational and educational limits that prevent everyone from taking it at the same time.

13.02 (d) – You can have the week off if you come to academic half day is not the intent of the language. The purpose is to allow for vacations where a mandatory program educational activity like a practice exam get booked after your vacation is approved, or a major family event (i.e. a sister’s wedding) conflicts with a scheduled mandatory educational event and flexibility is needed to make it possible for you to be present at both.

13.03 – Vacation is use it or lose it, you cannot get it paid out.
