2017 04 28 rounds – April 28, 2017 Rounds By Melissa Nilan 0 Resource Stewardship Survey Up to 30% of tests and treatments that physicians order are unnecessary, do not change patient care management, and may cause patient harm. Resource stewardship is an approach that focuses on appropriate allocation of resources for patient care, which considers benefits, harms, and overall costs. Resident Doctors of Canada has partnered with Choosing Wisely Canada to create a preliminary list of 12 recommendations for residents and are looking for resident input to create a final list of “Five Things Residents Should Question.” Please complete the 5-minute Resource Stewardship Consultation by May 12th. Include your email to be entered into a draw to win an Apple Watch. RDoC Representative Elections We are currently accepting nominations from residents interested in being a BC representative to Resident Doctors of Canada. The nomination deadline is May 1, 2017 at 12pm noon PST. Note that incoming R1s are also eligible to apply. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to represent BC residents at the national level. Additionally, RDoC is also accepting applications for committee volunteers. May Events & Activities Resident Doctors of BC is hosting several events in May: there will be a Cooking Class on May 8th, a Whitecaps Soccer Social on May 23rd, and the MD Inc. workshop on May 30th. Event announcements will be emailed once details are finalized, but in the meantime you can check our event stream for preliminary info. Additionally, as May is Wellness Month, we will be running a peer appreciation campaign where residents will be able to submit anonymous thank you notes for other residents. The final deadline to submit Block 10 call shifts is May 10. www.callstipend.ca DoBC Grad Dinner On June 23, graduating residents are invited to attend a celebratory dinner at the Sheraton.
